The Penultimate Chest is a public artwork commissioned by the National Museum of History in Taiwan. It draws inspiration from the National Museum of History's "The Chinese Cultural Chests" project (1969-1986), where relic preservation and political propaganda fused into a complex entity. By hosting workshops with the participation of local resident community, the artist collected their emotional memories and anthropomorphic imaginations towards the artifacts inside the "The Chinese Cultural Chests." She then reworked them into a script and collaborated with theater directors and actors. Utilizing the framework of object theater and simulated museum open displays, the artist weaves a family fable, addressing the intricate connections between objects, narratives, and identity across time.
